The Boston Beer Company (est. 1984) was founded by Jim Koch while living in Boston, Massachusetts. Interestingly enough, their flagship beer, Samuel Adams Boston Lager, was typically contracted brewed at Pittsburgh Brewing Company during its early years. In 1997, Koch moved back to his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio and purchased the Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewery where his father had brewed 40 years prior. The Cincinnati brewery of Sam Adams produces Angry Orchard, while the majority of the beer is produced at a location in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania that was purchased in 2007. The Boston location? It's an R&D brewery where tours and tastings are offered. Didn't realize Ohio was so integral to Sam Adams beer, did you?
