Pigskin Brewing Company features Home and Away drafts that are pleasing to any palate. Their Home menu runs the gamut on beer styles, from Hefeweizen to Barleywine, each having a distinct flavor profile that showcases their brewing talent. Starting off with a Smoked Lager was intriguing, as the unique flavor opened your senses and prepared your tastebuds for the delight of the beers to come. The brewery also featured a limited specialty beer called Won Off Wednesday, bringing a new brew to the menu each week. This week's was a delicious Bourbon Barrel Oatmeal Stout. I've since been back and had another, the Pale Stout. This is definitely a reason to get to Pigskin often!
The team at Pigskin merged beer and sports extremely well - as the integration is subtle - like the "Brew Like A Champion Today" on the door to the production room in the same font as the famous Notre Dame field entrance sign. An avid sports fan recognizes this instantly, where a non-sports fan just assumes it to be the mantra of the establishment. The Notre Dame connection continued, as one of the brews was named "Fighting Irish Stout" and you had the option of a "Fighting Irish Car Bomb," if you so desired. During the month of March that features everyone's favorite drinking holiday - Fighting Irish could just suggest a St. Patrick's Day brew.
Pints, Flights, and Growlers were all available - with Happy Hour and Weekly Specials making the visit even sweeter. Sadly, we didn't get the opportunity to try the food - it looked just as amazing. Next time, for sure!
